Terms of Service

The terms for using the ESLFLIX language-learning app and its connected learning services.

Effective and last updated:

About these terms

ESLFLIX is provided by Harry Benjamin Chafer-Cook, publishing as HarryCC ("we", "us", or "our"). These terms apply to the ESLFLIX language-learning app, including the Android app identified as com.englishapp.eslflix, and its connected learning services (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it. Store purchase terms also apply to purchases made through that store. This page concerns the learning app; it does not set the terms for TV Party or a separate teacher-resource subscription on eslflix.com.

Using ESLFLIX

ESLFLIX provides language-learning activities such as reading, vocabulary practice, flashcards, listening, exercises, games, and teacher-assigned work. Features and content may vary by platform, study language, subscription, or teacher assignment.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive licence to install and use the app and access learning content as permitted by these terms and your plan. Teachers and learners may use supported assignment and classroom features for their intended educational purposes. We and our licensors retain ownership of the software, branding, and content, except for content you own and third-party material subject to its own rights. Open-source components retain their respective licences.

Accounts and access

Provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in details, and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not share account credentials or use someone else's account without permission.

You must meet the age and eligibility requirements that apply to your use of the Service and the app store. If you cannot legally agree to these terms yourself, a parent or guardian must agree and supervise your use. Purchases require permission from the account holder and any necessary parent or guardian.

If your access is provided by a teacher or organisation, their assignment or access arrangements may also affect the features available to you. Contact us for help accessing or closing an account. Closing an app account or deleting the app does not by itself cancel a store subscription.

Premium subscriptions and payments

Some features require ESLFLIX Premium. Available plans, included benefits, billing periods, prices, currency, taxes, and any promotional conditions are shown in the app and the store checkout before you confirm a purchase. The checkout information applies to that purchase; a separate website or teacher-resource plan is not automatically included unless expressly stated.

Recurring subscriptions renew automatically for the stated billing period unless you cancel through the billing provider. Google Play handles purchases made through Google Play; Apple handles purchases made through the App Store. The relevant store processes payment and manages its purchase records. We use purchase and subscription status to provide the access you purchased.

Use the same store account and the app's available purchase-restoration or status-refresh options when restoring an eligible subscription. Sign-in, an internet connection, and a supported app version may be needed. Do not assume that buying through one store creates a separate purchase entitlement in another store; contact us if you need help linking existing access to your app account.

Any trial or promotional offer is governed by the terms shown when offered. Changes to recurring prices or billing terms will follow the applicable store rules and legal notice or consent requirements.

Cancellation, refunds, and purchase problems

You can cancel renewal through the provider that bills you. For Google Play, open Google Play → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → ESLFLIX. For Apple, open device Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ESLFLIX. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

Cancellation normally stops the next renewal and leaves access available for the remainder of the paid period, subject to any refund, revocation, or other applicable store decision. See Google Play's subscription guidance or Apple's cancellation guidance.

For refunds, use Google Play's refund process or Apple's refund process, as appropriate, or contact us for help. Refund eligibility depends on the purchase circumstances, store process, and applicable law. These terms do not impose a blanket no-refund rule or remove any mandatory right to cancellation, withdrawal, repair, replacement, a refund, or another remedy.

Learning content and AI

Some activities, explanations, translations, definitions, or audio may be generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. They can contain mistakes, bias, or unsuitable wording. Use your judgement, check important information, and report problems. Teachers should review material before relying on it for an assignment.

The Service supports language practice; it does not guarantee a particular proficiency level, test result, certification, or learning outcome. Third-party articles, videos, links, and other material remain subject to their owners' rights and terms.

Your content

You retain the rights you have in vocabulary lists, answers, prompts, and other content you submit. You give us permission to store, process, and display that content as reasonably needed to operate the features you use, such as saved practice and teacher assignments, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Only submit material you have the right to use. Avoid putting unnecessary sensitive or personal information into prompts or shared learning activities. Content you share with a teacher or class may be visible to the intended recipients through those features.

Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to:

  • Harass others, submit unlawful material, or infringe another person's rights.
  • Access accounts or data without permission, interfere with security, or disrupt the Service.
  • Bypass subscriptions, access limits, or purchase verification.
  • Resell access or copy, scrape, or redistribute protected content without permission.

Nothing here restricts rights that applicable law or an open-source licence gives you.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Store providers and third-party services may process information under their own privacy policies. Contact us with questions about account information, privacy, or deletion requests.

Updates, availability, and restrictions

We may update the app, fix errors, change supported devices, and improve or replace features. Some features require an internet connection or depend on third-party services. We cannot promise uninterrupted operation on every device or network.

We will honour applicable law and commitments made for paid access. If we materially change or discontinue a paid service, any required notice and remedies remain available. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, fraud, a security issue, or a legal obligation, subject to your rights concerning paid content. Contact us if you believe access has been restricted incorrectly.

Your legal rights and our responsibility

We provide the Service with the care and protections required by applicable law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for problems caused by your device, connection, misuse, or events outside our reasonable control, or for business losses from personal use.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or breach of mandatory consumer rights. You keep any mandatory protections and access to courts or other remedies available under the law that applies to you.

Please contact us first if you have a problem so we can try to resolve it. Contacting us does not prevent you from using a store's support or refund process, a regulator, a court, or another remedy available to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, legal requirements, or security needs. We will publish the updated version here with its date and give additional notice or seek consent where required. Changes will not retroactively remove rights or commitments attached to a purchase. If you disagree with a change, you may stop using the Service and cancel future subscription renewals; any remedies required by law remain available.
